Jill Merjeski is a Certified Professional Pet Sitter with many years of experience in pet care, animal behavior, and rescue.

Hailing from Philadelphia, Jill graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Saint Joseph’s University and continued her education earning a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from West Chester University. For over 13 years, Jill was a Senior Academic Advisor in the higher education sector before turning her passion for animals into a full-time career and a successful pet sitting company. Today, Jill applies her educational psychology background to canine emotion, cognition, and basic behavior modification, taking all that she’s learned and using it to offer the best professional dog sitters and pet care services to pet parents in the area.

Jill graduated from dog*biz Dog Walking Academy in Colorado and has been trained in Pet CPR and first aid through PetTech and The Red Cross. In 2018, Jill earned her Certification from K9 Lifeline’s 3D Workshop in Utah, Dealing with Difficult Dogs, learning safe handling, leash work, running safe socials, and canine assessments.

Jill earned Pet Sitters International’s CPPS-Certified Professional Pet Sitter status through knowledge-based assessment of the pet sitting industry. In 2019, Jill became a Certified Dog Care, Cat Care, and Disaster Planning Specialist. She is a current member of Pet Sitters International (PSI), National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS), and the International Boarding and Pet Services (IBPSA).

Jill’s Next Door also won Best of Palm Beach County 2019 & 2020 for the category “Best Dog Walkers of Palm Beach County" through BestofPalmBeachCounty.com and was nominated for the coveted award once again in 2021.

In 2022, Jill's Next Door was named the winner in the Palm Beach Post's Best of Palm Beach County "Best Pet Sitters." 

In addition to her pet and dog walking business, Jill is very active in the community, sponsoring several local events and causes.

In her free time, Jill opens her home to foster cats and kittens, saving over 200 felines and counting! In late 2020, Jill became a Certified Trap, Neutered, and Release Professional and Foster Home Certified through the Animal Rescue Professionals Association. She founded Jill’s Next Door Feline Alliance Program, an alliance organization for felines in need, working with local charities around Broward and Palm Beach Counties. She has founded a farm and cat sanctuary, raising money and awareness for felines. She’s been an active volunteer with Florida’s Forgotten Felines, creating and designing their website, organizing their business model, launching their stories on all social media platforms, and creating an amazing hiring system for qualified cat feeders. Jill has raised, fostered, and adopted out over 200 kittens and cats.
