Set your own schedule and work as much as you want while never missing the important moments in your life again. Join the booming pet industry as an independent contractor for Jill’s Next Door, and start loving your job.

Jill’s Next Door is currently seeking assistance for professional pet sitters that can work with, but not limited to, dogs, cats, birds, fish, gerbils, rabbits, and hamsters.  We have several places to be serviced, and will require someone who can fulfill the requests with an accommodating schedule.  This may be part of the day, and could be needed 7 days, even holidays.

At times, Jill’s Next Door is contracted to feed, medicate, and give water to animals under their care while keeping their quarters and bowls clean. They are expected to pick up after any animal they care for (litter box cleaning and pooper scooping). They are required to watch the animals closely to ensure they are in good health and are required to exercise animals which may include high energy dog walks of up to one hour per visit. They are required to keep digital records on the animals' health, feedings, behaviors and medications which they must be able to articulate in our online software system called Time to Pet.  They must be detail oriented, problem solving individuals who can easily follow instructions and are reliable and dependable.

We are looking for Pet Sitters who are able to fulfill the above needs. They must be highly motivated and self-managed. They must be cheerful, positive, enthusiastic, and have a genuine passion for the care of animals. They must have a very high level of customer service. They must act responsibly while being patient and tolerant when administering care. Since the sitters work in private homes, discretion and respect for the privacy of others are required. Sitters must have a high code of ethics that includes a professional manner, highly communicative and the ability to cover the clients’ scheduling needs.

The animals Jill’s Next Door cares for may involve aggressive or sick animals, changes in care instructions, extreme weather, emergencies, etc… and the pet sitter must have the ability to maintain emotional control during stressful situations.  Certain visits may involve frequent standing, brisk walking, lifting of heavy animals, and potentially dealing with dogs that jump up and have poor manners. Energy, good physical health, strength, fitness, animal sense and stamina are a must. All Independent Contractors are required to pass a reference and background check, be over the age of 25, and have a valid driver's license as well as a Smartphone or Tablet with data plan.

Pet Sitters are also responsible for a client's mail, adjusting lights and taking out the trash while ensuring the client's home is maintained until their return.  Sitters must have a working knowledge of the internet, be able to access and respond to emails, texts, calls, and be extremely responsive.

All Independent Contractors are required to sign a non-competition agreement.

Jill’s Next Door accepts time blocks from clients.  For any time block a sitter agrees to be available for, they must be available for that entire block.

Morning (7-9am), Late Morning (10am-12pm), Afternoon (1-3pm), Late Afternoon (4-6pm), Evening (7-9pm) Overnight (7pm-7am)

Sitters will be required to tell JND in advance of the areas they can service.

Sitters are retained as independent contractors and retain 50% of the billed visit including cancelation fees, additional pet fees and last minute fees. While sitters cover specific territories, there may be occasions JND requests service outside the primary areas.  In those instances, and upon acceptance of pet sitter, compensation is paid at a rate of 60% of the billed visit. Sitters also retain 100% of any billed holiday fees and 100% of any tips left for them. In cases where appointments are split between multiple sitters, tips will be split accordingly unless otherwise directed by the client. Initial visit sits are compensated at 25%. Sitters are compensated a flat rate of $8.00 for Client Meetings and Sitter Introductions.  Overnight visits are compensated at 70%.  JND may request a meeting with the independent contractors.  If this occurs, JND will compensate a flat rate of $30 per occurrence.

An annual bonus may be available as well, based on performance.

Sitters must invoice JND bi-weekly either using one of our forms or your own, and compensation is done by direct deposit for visits they have completed every two weeks.
